Holy shit. I feel terrible.
Yesterday I had 102.9º temp for most of the day. It finally broke around 10 pm last night, and has been all over the place since. This is just a preface to say: This may not end up being my most stellar write up ever, but I’ll give it my best.
This week doesn’t really have a cocktail, but there is a lot of bourbon on the rocks, so I figured now is as good a time as any to get a little education in what bourbon is, and why the Archer family loves it so much .
Bourbon is a type of whiskey that can only be made in the United States. Though bourbons can be made anywhere in the U.S. they are generally associated with Kentucky(approximately 95% of all bourbons are produced in Kentucky). The grain mixture for bourbon must be at least 51% corn, and it must be kept in brand new, charred, white oak barrels. Because the barrels must be new, this of coarse means that after it is used once, it can never be used again to make bourbon, but it can be used to make other whiskeys, scotches (as these types of whiskey do not have the same requirement of their barrels), or sometimes to age craft beers.
While there is no time requirement for the aging of bourbon, if it is aged for more than 2 years, it can then be called “straight bourbon”.
This week, there is a lot of oriental cuisine. Though we don’t actually get to see much of it, there is a call out to “Sesame Ginger”. Now, this could lead to anything from chicken breaststo stir-fry(Cyril’s fave of coarse), or even some likely delicious pot stickers.
Remember to wrap up any left overs in foil, folded into the shape of a swan.
I totally forgot, if you’re DVRing the show, and watch it the following morning, start the day off right with a blue berry muffin. An unbelievably good one.
